| The
existing balcony had an inferior design and was on the
verge of falling off of the house. Only two 2"
x 10" cantilevered floor joints supported the previous
balcony which was wider and longer than the new one.
The
design basis for this balcony is based on an elevation
of the front porch.
The
two supports for this balcony are fastened to the
load bearing masonry wall with 5/8" threaded
rod and 6" x 6" steel backer plates on the
interior of the house.
